The Fine Print

About Moderated Comments:

I moderate the comments posted here. Mostly, I do it to prevent comment spam, and to keep things nice and pretty. So that there's no confusion, here's more on what I expect and won't allow from people who care to post comments on Virtual Moxie. First, it's important to share that my basic philosophy about this is summed up this way:

• We are responsible for our own experiences
• We need to treat each other well, and with respect
• We need to come to the conversations we engage in with a generosity of spirit

If we do those things, experience tells me there will be few problems, and so those are my basic expectations.

Behave with those three things in mind, and I shouldn't have a reason to nuke your comment. For those who won't bear them in mind, please bear this in mind: This is my blog. If you aren't inclined to play nice, I won't let you play at all. One more thing -- please keep your comments on topic. I won't publish off-topic posts, although I will probably address them with you directly in email. A better way for you to get off-topic information or general questions answered is to send me email.

Think of this as a playground with some generally easy-to-follow rules. Those who play by the rules get free access. The bully, on the other hand, simply isn't welcome. Feel free to learn, play, make new friends, debate issues (not people—nothing gets you banned as fast as snarkiness and vitriolic/angry content), contribute thoughts, and generally have a good time.

Oh, and be sure to post under your own name. I believe in transparency, and won't post anonymous comments. If you care enough to say it, please own it.

Disclosure:

On the blog, I sometimes recommend stuff. It's always stuff I love, and stuff I think that you may love. I wouldn't recommend it, otherwise. And sometimes, when you click through to see the stuff recommended, you'll see that you've clicked an affiliate link.

I hope you don't mind. My theory is that if I would have recommended it anyway, why shouldn't I be willing to let the company pay me a little something if you decide to buy because you read something I wrote. You can pay them... or you can pay us both. I'm hoping you'll go for the latter. If you have a problem with it, please feel free to just Google the thing I've recommended that you're interested in, and buy it that way. My feelings won't be hurt--I promise.
