This is my left (GTD) brain talking… So often I’ve started a project without thinking about the amount of time it would take and/or the amount of time I actually could devote to it. At the end of the day I feel like I haven’t accomplished what I had intended to, and I wonder “where did my day go?” With blocks of time allocated on the calendar it’s easy to see where the time goes. As I've become more adept at scheduling, I'm able to estimate the time required for tasks and projects more realistically. Since I'm so visual, it's really cool to see my commitments in blocks of time. (I even color code them on my calendar; each client has a color, as well as my personal, AssistU and business development areas. I know - this is probably over the top.)

Of course, your article arrived when it was supposed to in my life. Funny how that happens! Thanks Stacy. As always, your wisdom and timing are impeccable.

Well put, Stacy! I love this blog, and always gain so much knowledge and insight from it each week. Keep up the great work!

Stacy, this advice is great! I felt a huge relief when I put on my voicemail about a year ago, "I am in the office most often between the hours of 9am and 3pm PT, Mon-Fri."

I like the idea of putting everything on your calendar, even things like, "file piles in office." And I am one of those people that has to use a paper calendar!
